Monday E3 Takeaways

Monday E3 Takeaways

Going with just my quick hot takes of E3 this year. Below are my impressions of E3 for Monday. Same format as my last post.

Ubisoft Conference

Out of all that they showed I’m only interested in 3 games. First being Watch Dogs Legion. I like the concept of recruiting members and using them based on their specialties such as hackers, brawlers, etc. I think London is a great setting for the game; and who wouldn’t want to play as old lady Helen.

Next up is Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. This game looks remarkable and I’m so pleased that they are allowing Ai teammates so this game can be played solo.

Finally, Rainbow Six Quarantine is another game that I am excited about, even though very little was shown. It’s PVE version of Rainbow Six Siege, and that just speaks to me. I look forward to grabbing two (2) other friends and burning through this game.

Kinda Funny Showcase

I really need to re-watch this one. Greg and Tim and the Kinda Funny crew did an amazing job on their showcase. There was a lot of Indie titles and it was a lot to take in. I’ll have to give it one more watch so I can really jot down what game or games I’m looking forward to from their showcase.

Square Enix Press Conference

I was looking forward to this conference all day. I wanted more information about the Final Fantasy VII Remake. And we got it! So, this is going be an episodic endeavor. The first game will surround your adventures during Midgar and will fit on 2 blu-rays. That’s a lot of content. So much time has been spent on this one area and now I’m not quite sure what that means for the rest of the game. How much longer will we have to wait for the remainder of this game? Only time will tell, but it’s Final Fantasy VII so I’m excited regardless.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered was announced and is coming to the Switch. I have only played this one since it was originally released on the PlayStation, so I’m looking forward to jumping back in.

Finally Marvels Avengers was shown; or a lot of CG was shown and not much, if any, gameplay was previewed. I do love the A-list voice actors that are being utilized to bring the cast to life. I like the mix of single and multiplayer functions and the free content, roster updates and no loot boxes. We still have a long way to go for the release, so I’m sure we will get more info as the months go by.

Overall, I was happy with what I saw. Personally, I wanted to see more gameplay from the debuted games. Nintendo’s Direct is Tuesday (today 6/11/19) and I can’t wait to see what they have in store. Good thing the start time is during my lunch hour so I can watch it uninterrupted.

What do you all think of the Avengers game? How about FF7 Remake?

  1. I even forgot about E3 I only knew about it till I saw the Avengers gameplay flying around on twitter (probably because I’ve gone back to playing my PS2), but I really do have high hopes for the Avengers game, and I think it’ll do well. I’m not really a FF player so I have no comment on that, but thank you for the updates on each conference because I’ve missed a lot (I’ll watch them soon though)

    1. I have high hopes for the Avengers game as well. Just still not quite sure what kind of game it is. Does it have single player campaign or is it full on co op. I’m a big Final Fantasy 7 fan but I’m skeptical on how these episodes are going to be rolled out. Are we going to have to wait another 5 years for episode 2?
